About Alicia

Dr. Alicia Garcia Gimenez is a cancer researcher who has specialised on the interfase between epigenetics and metabolism to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities in the context of leukemia and solid tumours. Her work has explored how mutations in epigenetic regulators drive new targeteable vulnerabilities and how to overcome its acquired resistance. She obtained her bachelor´s degree from Miguel Hernández University, her master’s at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and her doctorate at the University of Cambridge. She then took up a postdoctoral position at the Luxembourg Institute of Health. Dr. Garcia Gimenez is currently a VIDA-MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) in the Cancer Cell Cycle laboratory, led by Dr. Marcos Malumbres. There she studies how RB1 alterations in large-cell neuroendocrine cancer (LCNEC) creates specific vulnerabilities, aiming to identify targetted treatments for this rare neuroendocrine lung cancer.
